    O1. To learn about the structures and organisation of the public tourism sector in Portugal O2. To understand the evolution of the concept of planning in Portugal and to explore land-use planning instruments. O3. Define the objectives and elements of national tourism planning, including levels, models and participatory forms of this process. O4. Analyse the characteristics, goals and limits of sustainable tourism development in Portugal and worldwide. O5. Know the stages involved in drawing up a tourism development plan.

    The teaching approach adopted is based on the active method:   Presencial: 1. theoretical-practical teaching: 2. Laboratory practice: Field research into issues involved in tourism planning and sustainable development processes; Critical analysis of case studies related to governance models and the participation of local communities in tourism planning processes; Development and analysis of tourism development plans. 3. Simulated practice: Scenarios and activities that allow students to explore real-world situations related to identifying problems and developing tourism development plans, applying theoretical concepts and developing practical skills, using classroom debates. 4. Consolidation of the content taught in class by researching additional information on the different topics covered and developing additional work
