  • ApresentaçãoPresentation
The Production Management course unit is part of the Industrial Management area, addressing the organization, planning, and control of production processes. Its field of action includes the management of human, material, and technological resources, production scheduling, capacity planning, and flow optimization. It operates in the domains of process design, continuous improvement, and operational efficiency, providing essential support for strategic and operational decision-making. The course unit is relevant within the study cycle as it develops key competencies for the integrated management of production systems, enabling students to understand, analyze, and improve industrial processes while promoting productivity, quality, and sustainability.
  • ProgramaProgramme
The Production Management course unit focuses on the organization, planning, and control of industrial processes. It covers production challenges, flows, human aspects, and types of production, as well as production and operations strategy, including decision-making, objectives, and resource utilization. Students learn demand forecasting, material and resource requirements planning (MRP), scheduling, and sequencing, applying heuristic rules and evaluation methods. The unit also introduces process modeling and simulation, basic queuing concepts, and inventory management, including EOQ and classical methods. The course develops competencies to plan, analyze, and optimize production operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and alignment with organizational objectives.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
Understand the importance of production management within the context of business management. Understand the tools and techniques used in production and operations management. Present the essential aspects of product design. Plan material and resource requirements (MRP). Perform production scheduling and sequencing. Apply demand forecasting and inventory management methods.
