    Understanding the current context in which Labor Law operates in society and its relationship with the economy becomes crucial for a good application and interpretation of labor rules, hence the relevance of this curricular unit in terms of its usefulness within the scope of Labor Management. Human Resources.

    The world of labor in the 21st century. The international commitments (EU) and their implications in the field of labor. The commitments / agreements at the level of competitiveness and employment.  Globalization and employment relations.  Business competitiveness and employment law. Productivity: conceptual issues, challenges and responses. The flexi-security: is it the right answer? The legal system and labor law in Portugal in comparison with the competitiveness of the economy.  A labor-oriented planning for competitiveness and future challenges. The eruption in labor law and its connection to the economy: causes and contribution to its solution. 
  • ObjectivosObjectives
    The objectives of the curricular unit are: - Understand the labor reality and its normalization based on coding and major theories and doctrines. - Discuss topics related to other realities and direct influence in the employment context and with a clear impact on economic and social life of our country. - Provide students with skills to effectively communicate through written, oral, graphical and numerical language. At the end of the curricular unit students should be able to apply the knowledge gained to explain the labor reality of today, as well as able to perform self-study and research individually or in groups.

    The teaching methodology focuses on oral presentation of subjects and distribution of texts appropriate to each situation, carrying out individual or group work on class or current topics and discussing these works based on presentation by the students themselves and drawing up conclusions. Case study in practical context.

    A avaliação curricular será concretizada através de um teste intermédio (60%) e de um trabalho individual (40%), ambos obrigatórios. A avaliação final e a avaliação de época de recurso, será realizada através de exame escrito (100%).
