ApresentaçãoPresentationThe course introduces the fundamental concepts of labor law and its doctrinal evolution, analyzing the standardization of the reality of work and its social and economic implications, while developing communication and independent research skills in a labor law context.

ProgramaProgramme1. The world of work in the 21st century. 1.1. International commitments (EU) and their implications for the world of work. 1.2. Commitments/agreements on competitiveness and employment. 2. Globalization and labor relations. 3. Business competitiveness and labor legislation. 4. Productivity: conceptual aspects, challenges, and responses. 5. Flexicurity: an adequate response? 6. The legislative system and labor case law in Portugal in relation to economic competitiveness. 7. A labor system geared towards competitiveness and the challenges of the future. 8. Labor law in turmoil and its connection with the economy: causes and a contribution to its solution.

ObjectivosObjectivesO1. Present the fundamental concepts of labor law. O2. Discuss the reality of labor and its standardization based on codification and major theories and doctrines. O3. Discuss topics related to other realities that have a direct influence on the labor context and clear repercussions on the social and economic reality of our country. O4. Provide students with skills that enable them to communicate effectively through written, oral, graphic, and numerical language. C1. At the end of the course, students should be able to apply the knowledge acquired to explain the current labor reality, as well as be able to carry out self-learning and research individually or in groups.

Active methodologies in the classroom, through group work, case studies, and design thinking moments geared toward the practical application of content. Independent work: 3. Individual consolidation through guided reading, problem solving, and in-depth study of the content covered in the in-person sessions.

A avaliação curricular será concretizada através de um teste intermédio (60%) e de um trabalho (40%), ambos obrigatórios. A avaliação final será realizada através de exame escrito (100%).
