ApresentaçãoPresentationThe overwhelming majority of professional relationships are regulated by Labor Law. This, as a branch of special private law, presents numerous particularities that justified its autonomy from Civil Law.In the future, in professional life or even outside of it, the student will certainly come into frequent contact with Labor Law. The insertion of the curricular unit within the scope of Human Resources Management becomes even more pertinent, taking into account the importance of its applicability in this field.

ProgramaProgramme1. Introduction to employment law - coding labor. 2. Concept and range of the labor law. 3. The specific sources of labor law and its practical implication. 4. The private labor relations: the essentiality of employment and their implications for the parties. 5. Rights and duties of the parties. 6. The functional and geographical mobility. 7. Vacation, holidays and absences: context and consequences for the parties. 8 The vicissitudes of employment. 9 The arrangements for the termination of the employment contract: practical consequences, effects and procedures. 10. Brief reference to collective labor relations.

ObjectivosObjectivesThe objectives of this curricular unit are provide students with the basic knowledge in the training and development of labor rules, with special focus on the notion of labor law, its specific sources and evolution of it, and it will be given relevance all the elements of an employment contract, its elements, object, training, events, procedures, termination and practical effects and their associated procedures. At the end of the semester students will be able to delimit the area of labor law, its own sources, the notion of employment contract and its differentiation from similar figures, identify the various types of employment contracts and their possible peculiarities, some vicissitudes that they may lead to, rights and duties of both parties, and know how to identify and distinguish the forms of termination of employment, its procedures and consequences, among other competences.

A avaliação curricular será concretizada através da realização de dois testes intermédios (50% de ponderação cada um), ambos obrigatórios. A avaliação final será realizada através de exame escrito (100%), assim como o exame de recurso.
