Interfaces and Usability

Computer Engineering
  • ApresentaçãoPresentation

  • ProgramaProgramme
    1. Introduction - Human-Computer Interaction (HCI). 2. Usability principles. 3. Characteristics of interactive systems. 4. Human and technological factors that affect the use of an interactive system. 5. User-centered design and iterative interface design process. 6. Task and user analysis. 7. Sketching and prototyping. 8. Principles of interaction design: Graphic design. Assessment methods. Interaction Styles and Paradigms.
  • ObjectivosObjectives
O1. Introduce Interface Design concepts. O2. Present current practices for creating layouts for websites, systems and mobile applications. Competences: C1. Analyze and specify user requirements. C2. Perform iterative design: design, implementation and evaluation of user interfaces. C3. Apply design and usability principles to the design and evaluation of user interfaces. C4. Apply the most appropriate prototyping techniques, according to the project requirements and the different phases of user interface development. C5. Evaluate user interfaces, applying the most appropriate evaluation techniques, at different stages of their development.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
Synchronous distance learning: 1. Use of expository and demonstrative methods to present each topic in detail, showing typical examples and proposing students to carry out application exercises. Face to face: 2. Laboratory practice: with case studies, practical application exercises, experimentation and testing. Autonomous: 3. Additional research guided by the teacher using the techniques and methods of scientific research, aiming to support students in producing the evaluation work report. The teacher gives feedback (Tutorial Guidance - OT) in person in the classroom context or through the Moodle teaching/learning process support platform.
