Fundamentals of Health

  The Health Fundamentals course introduces students to the general context of health, exploring its principles, definitions, structural areas and assumptions of global health, as well as the organisation and functioning of health systems. It analyses the history and evolution of international organisations, highlighting their missions, structures and functions in the coordination of global public health. It addresses current and future challenges, including the burden of disease and quality of life in different international contexts. It relates health to the Sustainable Development Goals, emphasising its central role in human development. Finally, it considers the evaluation of health programmes and policies through methods of measuring impact, effectiveness and monitoring of international interventions.

• ObjectivosObjectives

  O1 - Know the concepts of global health, globalization and the assumptions of global health; O2 - Understand the main international health organizations, O3 - Identify the current threats to global health, O4 - Define strategies to address current threats to global health; O5 - Analyze current global health challenges ethically O6 - Know current and future trends in global health governance and their implications for the formulation of health policies and practices.
