    The course characterizes and describes types of research, identifies information gathering techniques, analyzes variables and stages of the research process, and structures a research project, enabling students to evaluate methods and techniques in social sciences, articulate theory and practice in data collection and processing, and develop research tools appropriate to social issues.

    Face-to-face: 1. Brief introduction to concepts followed by guiding questions to check immediate understanding. 2.  Laboratory/classroom sessions with step-by-step tasks: formulating problems and hypotheses, constructing interview guides and questionnaires, defining sampling strategies, etc. 3. Project-based experiential learning. Work in small groups to design a mini project. 4. Seminars in which students, in groups, present the methodological section of a scientific article. Independent: 5. Guided readings on research paradigms and strategies, viewing tutorials, and completing small applied exercises.

    A avaliação curricular será concretizada através dos seguintes elementos: 
    - Prova de avaliação escrita, presencial, sem consulta (frequência) (50% da nota final). 
    - Trabalho prático com uma ponderação global de 35% 
    - Portfólio individual das fichas de exercícios (15%). 
    A avaliação final será realizada através de exame (100%)
