    In this course, we will explore the vast universe of language. Essential skills for effective communication will be developed, such as critical reading, clear writing and fluent oral expression. The Portuguese language, as a tool for social interaction and the construction of knowledge, will be analysed in its various aspects, allowing students to understand its importance in everyday life and in different areas of knowledge. The relevance of the Portuguese language in the cycle of studies is fundamental. By mastering the language, students acquire the basis for learning other subjects, communicating effectively in different contexts and developing critical thinking. The subject also contributes to the formation of citizens who are more aware and critical of the reality around them. This course provides students with greater communication skills, preparing them for the challenges of academic and professional life.

Language and communication - Language and language - Use of language as a social activity  – Verbal activity as a form of action - Communicative competence - Principles that guide verbal communication: the principle of cooperation and conversational maxims  - The said and the implicit - Use of language and situational context 2. Oral communication - Particularities of orality - Oral communication processes - Exposition - Interview - Meeting 3. Written communication - Treatment of problems with punctuation, accentuation, spelling and the rules of text processing - Production writing - The structure of the sentence - Period – Paragraph  4. Written communication processes - Academic text vs. non-academic text - Utilitarian text of an administrative nature: notice, letter, report, minutes, curriculum vitae.

    Objectives: The objectives of the curricular unit are: -Promote the development of oral and written skills, in terms of comprehension, expression and production in Portuguese (LP). -Apply previously acquired linguistic knowledge. Continuing the study of LP with a view to improvement, adapting it to the modern, professional and personal needs of the trainees. Critically analyze different types of statements -Acquire planning and preparation techniques for different textual typologies. Produce oral and written statements, adapting them to different communicative situations. -Acquire methods and techniques for searching, recording and processing information.

    In Attendence: 1. Theoretical/practical classes: presentation of concepts; discussion of programme contents; textual interpretation; resolution of grammatical and lexical exercises using digital tools (RED). 2. Practical classes: conversational situations; simulation of real situations; discussion of topics; brainstorming; researching information and presenting/discussing it, using digital tools (AI); solving exercises either in an intranet environment or using paper support. Autonomous: 3. Inverted classroom dynamics with information research for application in the classroom context. 4. Consolidation of the contents taught in class by researching additional information and solving exercises on the different themes and contents.

    No âmbito da avaliação, os alunos serão avaliados na componente oral (40%). Será selecionado um tema e apresentarão o trabalho individualmente à turma, acompanhado de um suporte digital apenas com imagens ou com recurso a palavras, pontualmente. 

    O segundo elemento de avaliação é uma Frequência (60%) que aborda toda a matéria lecionada em aula.

    Ao longo do 1º semestre, serão colocadas no Moodle Fichas Informativas e Fichas de Trabalho de auxílio ao trabalho autónomo dos alunos.

    Através desta plataforma, os alunos poderão colocar e esclarecer dúvidas com a docente.
